What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that focuses on the musculoskeletal system, aiming to promote healing, reduce pain, and improve overall health. Osteopaths use their hands to manipulate, stretch, and massage muscles, joints, and tissues to restore balance and function within the body.

FAQ
What conditions can osteopathy treat?
Osteopathy can effectively treat a wide range of conditions, including back and neck pain, joint pain, sports injuries, muscle strains, headaches, migraines, postural issues, arthritis, sciatica, and repetitive strain injuries (RSIs). It can also provide relief from pregnancy-related discomfort, digestive problems, and respiratory conditions.
What should I expect during my first osteopathic appointment?
During your first osteopathic appointment, the osteopath will conduct a detailed assessment, asking questions about your medical history, current symptoms, and lifestyle factors. They will perform a physical examination, which may involve observing your posture, testing your range of motion, and palpating different areas of your body. Based on their findings, they will develop a personalised treatment plan.
How should I dress for treatment?
In order to conduct a thorough examination and effective treatment it can be helpful to view the patient in their underwear and/or a pair of shorts or leggings and an elastic t-shirt. Please be assured that I will always endeavour to respect your modesty and adapt to your concerns and needs.
Will treatment be uncomfortable?
Some of the techniques employed by osteopaths may occasionally provoke a mild discomfort during their application, but communication between the patient and osteopath means that this should never be to a degree that would be unpleasant. Occasionally after visits patients may experience a treatment reaction with a some exaggeration of their symptoms for a brief period, normally no longer than 24 hours. This is most often not the case. Patients are encouraged to contact their osteopath if this causes concern.
